Stable Review (2026): Business Virtual Address, Pricing & Real Costs

Stable combines a permanent business mailing address with scanned mail, team workflows, API access and optional registered-agent services. We examine what Grow and Scale really include, the fees beyond the subscription and the limitations worth checking before you choose an address.

Stable — business address and virtual mailbox
Grow from $49/month equivalent with annual billing, or $59 month-to-month; extra usage may cost more.

MailboxScout verdict: Stable is an interesting option for founders and growing companies that want a business-focused mailroom, rather than the cheapest possible personal mailbox. Included interior scans, unlimited recipients and automations are strong points. But the higher subscription price, mail-volume limits, no local pickup and possible delays from centralized processing make it less suitable for every use case.

What makes Stable different from a basic virtual mailbox?

A traditional virtual mailbox primarily helps you receive, inspect, scan and forward mail. Stable does that, but its product is built around a broader proposition: one business address and a digital mail workflow for your team. That matters more to an LLC managing vendor contracts, legal notices and checks than it does to someone receiving a few personal letters.

Business presence

Permanent street-format address

Select an available U.S. business mailing address, with address-change guidance. Acceptance for a particular bank or filing still needs to be checked.

Documents

Included open & scan

Read interior mail scans in the dashboard without a per-scan request charge, subject to Stable's published handling restrictions.

Automation

API, webhooks and AI summaries

Useful for teams that need to move information from physical correspondence into digital workflows; advanced integrations vary by plan.

Business add-ons

Registered Agent and checks

Optional registered-agent coverage and paid check-deposit solutions extend the product beyond basic correspondence handling.

Stable markets its street addresses for business administration, including government and vendor correspondence. However, a valid mailing address is not automatically a residential address, proof of physical operations or guaranteed bank-approved address. Verify the specific field and institution before signing up. Read our CMRA guide and business-address guide.

*Monthly plans have monthly limits; annually billed plans have annual limits. This is not an entitlement to both allowances at once. Custom plans are available by quotation.

The headline annual-billing prices are substantially higher than the cheapest conventional mailbox plans. In return, Stable includes interior scanning and more structured business tools. Your fair comparison is the total price of a workable business mail process, not only the lowest advertised mailbox subscription.

Other fees that affect the real cost

  • Over-quota incoming items: $3 each under Stable's Fair Use Policy.
  • Physical mail forwarding: carrier postage and a small transaction fee; the final price depends on the shipment.
  • Extra team members: $20/user/month on Grow or $30/user/month on Scale.
  • Second location: an additional Stable address is listed at $50/month.
  • Registered Agent: $25/month per state, with a Stable plan also required.
  • Check deposits: an additional paid product, with pricing depending on volume; do not assume deposits are free.
Illustrative real-cost scenario — not a provider quote

A Grow customer billed monthly receives 35 eligible mail pieces in one month, five above the 30-piece allowance:

$59 subscription + (5 × $3 overage) = $74 for the month, before shipping, taxes or any optional services. Adding one state of Registered Agent coverage would take this illustration to $99, before other costs.

Stable also advertises a 50% first-year Grow discount for qualifying young businesses (such as businesses under $1 million in annual revenue or companies using an address to incorporate). Check eligibility, payment frequency and renewal terms at checkout rather than assuming everyone receives it.

Where does Stable actually process your mail?

This is an important detail that is easy to overlook. Stable's help center says that mail sent to many of its listed business addresses is transferred to a processing hub in San Francisco, New York City or Dallas for scanning and handling. For an address outside those processing hubs, that internal forwarding can add approximately two to three days before processing. The provider specifically recommends a hub-city address when speed is the priority.

That does not make the service less legitimate, but it changes the buying decision. If you need time-sensitive legal correspondence or banking documents, ask which processing center handles your chosen address and how turnaround is measured. If local pickup matters, Stable is not the right fit: its help center explicitly states that in-person pickup is unavailable.

Mail scanning, forwarding and storage

Incoming mail appears in the online dashboard, where you can decide to scan, ship, shred or, for supported checks, use paid deposit services. Stable says interior scanning is included with the subscription. It supports shipping physical originals within the United States and internationally, but shipment charges are additional and depend on destination, dimensions and carrier.

Stable holds physical mail for 30 days before secure disposal and says that it sends a reminder before shredding. Digital scans remain available in the dashboard. This is convenient for ordinary correspondence, but it makes timing important when an original contract, certificate or other paper document must be preserved.

The Fair Use Policy imposes handling restrictions. In particular, oversized packages, perishable goods, COD shipments and other restricted items are not suitable for the service. Consult its published policy before treating Stable as a general parcel warehouse or product-return address.

Business addresses, LLCs and USPS Form 1583

For an LLC or corporation, a virtual business address can help separate correspondence from a founder's home address. But it is not the same as a Registered Agent appointment. Stable sells Registered Agent service separately at $25/month per state, including coverage across the U.S. according to its pricing page.

Before Stable can accept mail, you must complete USPS Form 1583 authorization and identity verification. Stable's guidance calls for a photo ID and separate proof of residential address, which cannot itself be a virtual mailbox. Non-U.S. applicants may use appropriate international ID documents, subject to acceptance and verification.

For a state filing, financial account or licence application, check the exact address requirements with the relevant institution. A mailbox may be usable as a mailing or certain business contact address without qualifying as the company's physical premises.

These offers are not interchangeable. A basic mailbox can be cheaper but lack included content scans; a business-focused mailroom costs more but may help teams manage high-value correspondence. See our virtual mailbox for small business and LLC mailbox guide for use-case distinctions.

Who should consider Stable?

  • Worth considering: startups receiving business correspondence, remote teams sharing mail access, founders needing integrations, and companies that want scanning plus a separate Registered Agent option.
  • Compare alternatives first: individuals receiving very little personal mail, customers wanting local pickup, price-sensitive users, and businesses regularly exceeding mail or parcel limits.
  • Confirm before ordering: the particular address's processing route, any bank or government acceptance requirements, the applicable yearly or monthly quota, and renewal pricing after promotions.

Stable review FAQ

How much does Stable cost in 2026?

Grow is advertised at $59 month-to-month or $49/month equivalent when billed annually. Scale is $99 month-to-month or $83/month equivalent when billed annually. Usage and add-ons can increase the total.

Are mail scans included with Stable?

Stable says standard open-and-scan requests are included. Mail volume, document-size restrictions and other Fair Use terms still apply.

Is Stable's virtual address a physical office or residence?

No. Stable provides a real street-format business mailing address, but it should not be confused with residential proof or a staffed office available to the subscriber. Requirements vary by institution and filing purpose.

Does Stable charge for extra incoming letters?

Yes. Its published Fair Use Policy lists a $3 charge per incoming piece above the included allowance. The applicable threshold depends on plan and billing cycle.

Does Stable include Registered Agent service?

No. Registered Agent is a separately priced add-on, listed at $25 per month per state, and a Stable subscription is required.

Can I collect my mail at a Stable location?

No. The Stable support center states that in-person mail pickup is not supported. Physical originals can be forwarded instead, at an additional shipping charge.

How long does Stable keep my paper mail?

It states 30 days of physical storage, after which items may be securely shredded with a prior reminder. Digital scans remain available.

Does Stable process mail at the address I select?

Not always. Many addresses route mail to one of Stable's central processing facilities, which can add roughly two to three days of internal forwarding according to its support documentation.

Is Stable suitable for a non-U.S. founder?

Potentially. Stable accepts certain international identity documents during USPS Form 1583 verification, but address use, recipient names and specific business, banking and state requirements should be confirmed before subscribing.
